Maura has lived in Moneymore for most of her life
and is interested in local people, local places, and
local history. Maura remembers life in a very
different society from today. Her interests extend
to local dialect and customs. She has written about
both these. Maura will deliver two talks during the
month of October.
Dialect and Local Sayings (2 October): In a world
of rapid communication and global information,
the local can often get lost. This talk will remind us
of the richness and value of our local dialect and
customs which form part of our identity.
Moneymore in the 1950s (16 October): A nostalgic
look back at the village of Moneymore in the
decade after WWII, revisiting the streets, the
shops and the characters.
Thursday 2 October and
Thursday 16 October
7.30pm – 9.30pm
BOTH TALKS CAN
BE BOOKED FOR £5
